Feeling Ungodly
Feeling Ungodly
I want to say something about ungodly attitudes and actions.
These things do not negate your salvation.
They do not cause God to love you less.
They do not cause God to send you curses.
They do not cause God to withhold blessings from you.
They do, however, have a negative effect in your life.
As long as you have your mind set on yourself, your attitudes, your actions, your perceived inability to have a feeling of settled faith in God, you will not experience the fullness of the abundant Life He has given you.
When your mind is set on these things, on yourself, you cannot hear Him very well. It's like if you were deep in a video game or studying or working really hard on something. You might easily fail to hear what someone said to you. It just doesn’t register.
When your focus is on yourself in this way, you are quenching the Spirit.
Let go of all that and determine just to quietly live your life.
Continue talking to God but stop examining yourself.
When thoughts about God or your behavior or attitudes come:
Compare those thoughts to what 1 Corinthians 13 says about Love.
Compare those thoughts to what Galatians 5:22 lists as aspects of the fruit of the Spirit.
Compare those thoughts to what Philippians 4:8 counsels us to think about.
In this way you can take your thoughts captive to Christ (see 2 Corinthians 10:5).
If the thoughts are NOT consistent with these things, reject them, remind yourself that whatever comes from God will be consistent with these things.
If the thoughts ARE consistent with these things, then you can trust that they are from God. Listen to them. Take them to heart. Thank God for them.
