Walk by the Spirit
Walk by the Spirit
When we are walking (living our everyday walking around lives) by the Spirit, the desires of the flesh take a backseat. (Galatians 5:16)
If our lives are characterized by dependence on Him to lead us, then our mind is set on "things above" and not on things on the earth. (Colossians 3:1-3)
Renewing our minds (Romans 12:2)
taking our thoughts captive to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5)
looking to know Him more deeply (Philippians 3:7-9)
thinking on good and lovely things. (Philippians 4:8)
This occupies us with godly thoughts and keeps our focus on Him rather than on all the nonsense that tries to draw our attention onto anything but Him.
Unless we know who we are. (Galatians 2:20)
Unless we know that we have truly been changed. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Unless we know that we are righteous, holy, and blameless. (Ephesians 1:4, Colossians 1:22)
We will find it difficult to walk by the Spirit.
Over the long term, we cannot live our lives in a way inconsistent with who we believe ourselves to be. If we believe we are at war with ourselves, we will act like it. We will find ourselves in a constant battle to have better attitudes and actions. All our focus will be on fixing ourselves.
The truth is that the Lord Jesus is the dynamo empowering everything in our lives.
He is the Vine. (John 15:1 & 5)
He is the Holy Root that makes us branches holy. (Romans 11:16)
Apart from Him, we can do nothing. (John 15:5)
