Remember Who You ARE

Remember Who You ARE

If you are disappointed with your attitudes and actions, remember who you are.

Your identity is not determined by your actions. You are the child of your biological parents, a member of their family no matter how you behave. Even if you disavow your parents, you remain their child. You cannot escape that because your DNA is shared with them. It is who you ARE.

In the same way, your identity in Christ (holy, blameless, above reproach-see Colossians 1:22) did not come about by anything you did. It came about because you were born of the Spirit of God the moment you put your faith in the Lord Jesus. You were made new (2 Corinthians 5:17) born of God. You now share in His nature (2 Peter 1:4). Just as in the case of your human lineage, your lineage in Christ cannot be changed. It is who you ARE.

You might act like you are still in Adam (1 Corinthians 15:22), but you are in Christ (Galatians 3:26) and just as there was nothing you could do to cause that, there's nothing you can do to change it.

Trust God to be working in you to give you godly desires and to be the dynamo empowering those godly behaviors in you (Philippians 2:13).
Trust God to deliver on His promise to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).
Trust that the grace of God in the Lord Jesus is teaching you to deny ungodliness and live an upright and holy life in this world (Titus 2:11-12).
Trust that He prepared in advance that godly behavior should characterize your life (Ephesians 2:10).

Just as you have been doing, keep your attention on Him.

He knows exactly the best way to mature you from the inside out.
He will not fail you; just relax.
