Bible Reading
Here is one of the more helpful things I've learned about how to read scripture.
Let’s not
look for direction about behavior
treat the Bible as an instruction manual
search the Scriptures like an encyclopedia of moral conduct
reason out measuring sticks for godliness and righteousness.
If we look at the Bible that way
we will find frustrating contradictions
we will be met with an overwhelming lack of clarity.
Instead
let’s look for prophesy and shadows of Jesus
let’s carefully notice Father’s promises to the righteous
let’s search for insight into who Father has made us
let’s find the characteristics of godliness
let’s observe examples of the way that looks in our everyday life.
If we look at the Bible this way
we will find a unified message
we will be met with refreshing clarity.
Reading to find behavior instructions
leads to bondage.
Reading to find Jesus
what He has done
how that affects us
leads to freedom.
That's the way of grace. It tears down strongholds and breaks chains.
