Two Designs

The designs of natural humanity are also called the things of the flesh, carnal things, the lust of the flesh, and so on.
The designs of our Father are also called the things of the Spirit, spiritual things, what is unseen, and so on.

The world’s design sees everything as based on merit.
It declares that we have nothing but what we deserve and have earned.
It sees looking out for number one as the best way.
It sees whatever feels good as what is right.
When it thinks of others it judges them.

The design of our Father is that everything is based on grace.
It declares that we have nothing but what we have been freely given.
Father’s way sees looking out for the interests of others as the best way.
It sees loving people, even if we don’t feel like it, as what is right.
When it thinks of others it is merciful, gracious, compassionate, and Loving.

Father’s ways seem wrong-headed and dangerous, even foolish, to the world, yet in them lies the power of God and blessing for us and for those around us.
