Not Guilty!
There is now no condemnation for you who are in Christ (Romans 8:1).
You may sometimes wonder if that's really true.
It must be true.
Jesus died to sin once for all (Romans 6:10).
You were crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20).
Therefore, you are dead to sin.
Through Christ, the law of sin and death (“the wages of sin is death”) no longer applies to you (Romans 8:2). You’ve been set free from that law by the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus (also Romans 8:2).
You however, are a citizen of heaven (John 17:16). The heavenly law is the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:2) This is the law of freedom (James 2:12).
There is no condemnation for you because you aren't breaking any laws.
The law that applies to you is that you have Life in Christ Jesus.
Abundant, indestructible, springs-of-living-water Life.
You may stumble a lot.
You may give in to temptation.
You may walk for a while as though you were still in the flesh.
In those moments, expect the enemy to be whispering in your ear. Expect his lies to sound for all the world like thoughts that have originated from you.
Know this:
You are not led by the flesh--the world's mindset of behaving and responding to things. No, child of the Most High, you are, in actual fact, led by Father's Holy Spirit. (Romans 8:9 & 14)
He who is in you is Life (John 5:26).
Your spirit is alive because of righteousness. (Romans 8:10)
That’s the way of grace. You are righteous because God has made you righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 5:17b).
You’ve been given everything you need. Live from that.
2 Peter 1:2–3
“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, for His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (NASB 2020)
