Life or Debt

Did you ever wonder why God came to earth as a human?

In 1 Corinthians 15:21 Paul has this to say: "For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead."

Humanity earned the wages of sin.
Humanity gave themselves over to that old serpent from the garden.
Humanity gave the enemy dominion over the earth.
Humanity sold its birthright.
Humanity decided not to trust God.
Humanity became slaves to the god of this world.

We bore the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Fruit like judging, pride, and self-righteousness.

Since humanity was the transgressor, humanity had to pay the debt. The transgression was against perfection, against holiness, against the infinite.

Humanity could never even hope to pay such a debt. God could justly have erased humanity forever.

But God is love. It's just who He is.

This is why God came to earth as a human person. Only someone human could pay. But that someone would have to be perfect, holy, infinite. No one less would have the ability to pay.

Jesus, the Anointed One; fully God and fully human.

Rest in the fact that no debt remains. It has been paid in full and removed from the ledger.
