Your Body is not The Flesh
Greek lesson of the day:
There are two Greek words rendered flesh or body in the New Testament. These words are sarx, and soma.
The difference between soma (your body) and sarx (the flesh) is important.
Your soma (your physical body) is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 6:19)
Sarx (the flesh, which wars against the Spirit) is the mindset of this world.
It’s the “earthy” way of responding to, and dealing with, situations.
It’s walking by sight rather than walking by faith.
(Galatians 5:16-25)
So, when you read in Galatians 5:17 that the flesh (sarx) and the Spirit are at odds. You can know for certain that you aren’t at war with your own body (soma). (Ephesians 5:28-29)
The war being waged by the Spirit within you is against the worldly approach to life.
That’s why it grieves you when you act according to the flesh.
Father is in there helping you see the Truth.
Grace and peace to you.
