Meet Susie

Meet Susie

Susie is a very intelligent, very energetic, white Boxer.

Susie absolutely loves to run and play. If you let her, she will go at full speed until she can hardly breathe.

Susie has a favorite toy. Susie loves this toy so much that she carries it everywhere. Even when she is lying down, it is usually nearby. Honestly, she is a bit obsessive about it. She is wary of losing it and if it happens to by lying around somewhere and we go to pick it up to play with her, she will race over to it and grab it before we can. She loves to chase it when we throw it, but once she gets it, she will not drop it so we can throw it again. Instead, she plays a kind of “keep away” where she acts like she wants us to play, but then refuses to allow us to take it. Because she is unwilling to risk not having her toy, we can’t often throw it for her.

Susie would have a lot more fun if she trusted us with her toy. We would both enjoy stimulating time together, and she would run more, which she loves.

It’s a lot like that with me and God too.
Like Susie, I can be prone to running until I can hardly breathe.
Like her, I can find myself hanging on to things for fear of loss or lack.

Susie depends on me for everything in her life.
I depend on the Lord for everything in my life.

Susie would have what she most desires if she would let go and trust me with her toy.
I would have the desire of my heart if I would let go trust God with all my “stuff.”

Saints, we were designed to live by faith in dependence on God. He is the source of the Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control for which our spirits yearn.
