Falling from Grace

Falling from Grace

To fall from grace is to go back to trying to make yourself acceptable to God through meritorious conduct.

When you fall back into navigating life like the world and its systems think you should, you're walking according to the flesh. That never ends well. It results in life on a performance treadmill trying to get closer to God while in truth, you’re getting nowhere.

When you live this way, you remove yourself from the benefits of the grace God has shown you. You’re quenching the Spirit.

You forget that the Spirit of Truth lives in you and is producing Spiritual fruit. So, you act as though it's your job to be loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, gentle, faithful, and self-controlled.

It's a sure way to cause yourself pain and anguish.

Relax, Saint. Jesus already did all that stuff. He is producing all that wonderful fruit in you by His Spirit. Rely on it being there. Go about your day assuming it is true of you, because it is!

Let His fruit hang off you. Let His aroma waft from you like the smell of cookies baking in the oven. That way the world is drawn to “taste and see that the Lord is good.” (see Psalm 34:8)

In this way, you take full advantage of the benefits of the grace Father has shown you and you make His Love tangible to a world without hope.
