Too Small a Thing
Too Small a Thing
Isaiah 49:6 (NASB)
“He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant
To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel;
I will also make You a light of the nations
So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth.’”
Jesus was sent to the people of Israel, it’s true.
But
Jesus was not just a prophet.
Jesus was not just a Rabbi.
Jesus was not just a servant of God the Father.
Redeeming and saving the Hebrew nation would have been far too small a thing to assign to the Anointed One, the promised Savior, the only begotten Son of the Living God.
Jesus is also a light to “the nations,” that is, everyone who is not a Hebrew.
Jesus is the Savior of everyone who will change their mind about sin and about God and believe on Him for forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and righteousness.
We worship Him because without Him we all would be without hope and without God in the world.
Jesus is the One
The One light,
The One way,
The One truth,
The One life.
The Lord Jesus is the greatest gift ever to be given.
His name is Jesus, for He has saved His people from their sins.
His name is Lord, for in Him we live and in Him is Life eternal.
Anything less would be too small a thing.
