Hearing God

It can seem hard to recognize Father's voice.

If you're like me, you may have questioned whether you were hearing God or making up thoughts and attributing them to Him.

I found that initially, it was after events had already occurred that I realized I had heard Him, and He had been working on everything for me.

What sort of events helped me hear Father and know He was speaking and working?

When I saw things falling into place,

When I felt inexplicable peace welling up at just the right moment,

When someone with a particular skill, knowledge, or resource just showed up, things like that.

Once that happened enough times, I finally began to recognize Him while He was speaking. I can't say I always know right away, but it's becoming more obvious to me when it's Him.

I think this is part of how we grow. I imagine the process is not the same for everyone.

So, here's my encouragement for you. Relax and let this happen. Allow Father to make Himself known at the rate that's perfect for you. Permit Him to speak to you in the way that fits you best.

It will come. He promised that His sheep know His voice.
