God is not the Author of Calamity
God is not the Author of Calamity
God is not the author of calamity. He does not place His children in harms way. He does not kill them or make them ill because they have sinned or to test their devotion.
The world is fallen and cursed because Adam and Eve decided to listen to the enemy in the Garden. When they did that, they gave their dominion over the world over to that old snake.
This is why people die and the reason calamity occurs.
Jesus said that we would have trouble in this world, but that we should not be worried because He has overcome the world.
He is with us working good even in the midst of loss and calamity.
Good that comes from calamitous things includes things like deeper trust in God. Our trust for Him grows because after we have gone through great difficulties, we see how Father helped us grow spiritually, know Him better, and see that He is always faithful.
So, God is in control of the world, but He does not intervene in the system every moment.
It's like earthly parents who want what's best for their children. They know that life brings risk, but they know their children will not develop properly if they are raised in a plastic bubble.
Consequently, children sometimes get hurt. This breaks the parent's heart. But it also demonstrates their love for their children by ensuring their healthy growth and development.
You may hear that a virus, a tsunami, or any other terrible thing has come as judgement from God.
That's not the truth.
