God is Love
Forming opinions, thinking about decisions, and contemplating responses in difficult times, can feel overwhelming.
In situations like this, Pastor Andy Stanley likes to ask, "What does love require?"
I think that's the answer to many of the decisions we face.
Jesus left us with two commands, believe Him, and love one another.
The Spirit within us produces fruit. His fruit has several aspects:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control.
Each of these aspects of His fruit stems from love, and that makes perfect sense because he is love.
These are the sort of things He teaches us. As scripture says, He teaches us that denying ungodliness, we should walk up rightly and godly in this world. (see Titus 2:11)
Love is godly. As grace would have it, love is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
