Family Resemblance

The Spirit of God lives in you, beloved and holy child of God.

The moment you believed, He took up residence. More than that, He joined Himself to you at the level of your spirit. At that moment you began to share in His divine nature. God's nature is love. Your new nature is inherited from your Father. You resemble Him.

Now these traits of His are in your nature. They are part of who you are at the core. They come from your heavenly Father, and they are part of your makeup at the deepest level because His seed remains in you.

With your Father you share attributes like these:
Love
Joy
Peace
Patience
Kindness
Goodness
Gentleness
Faithfulness
Self-control

It is no longer like you to
Envy
Brag
Be full of pride
Be rude
Be self-seeking
Be angered easily
Keep a record of wrongs people have done

You don’t delight in evil.
Instead, you find yourself
Rejoicing in the truth
Finding ways to protect, to trust, to hope in others.

It is natural for you always to persevere in loving and forgiving.

That's the way of grace. Love lives in you and leaks out on those around you more and more.
