Higher, Closer, Deeper

Many spend years trying to attain a higher kind of faith, a closer walk with God, a deeper Christian life. They read all the books, work hard at all the disciplines, search the scriptures.

That's a pipe dream.

The higher and deeper life is not something attained. Despite hymn lyrics to the contrary, there is no closer walk.

The life we all seek is The Life.

It's the abundant life.
It's the forever life.
It's the highest, deepest, closest life possible.

The life IN Christ.

Where we live, and move, and exist IN Him.
Where He IS our life.

Jesus exemplified that life as He walked by faith. He said that He did nothing apart from the Father. He spoke and acted as the Father spoke and directed. Completely dependent.

It is in this example that we discover that there is no "how" to the Christian life.

There is only faith.
It comes from the Source.
It matures through experience and revelation over time.
As we learn who Father is, we learn that we can trust Him more.
As we learn who Father has made us, we learn that we can trust Him more.

This is what the Apostles were pointing to when they talked about growing in grace, growing in the knowledge of the Lord, knowing the incredible scope of His love.
