Biblical Encryption
Biblical Encryption
In Ephesians 3:9, Paul talks about the mystery which has been hidden from the beginning of the world. There's an interesting detail in the Greek here that can help us approach the Old Testament (and indeed all of Scripture) from a new perspective.
The Greek word translated "hid", or "hidden"; is "apokrypto." This is literally "before (apo) encrypted (krypto)". Encrypted before.
In the Old Testament, the Gospel was hidden, veiled, kept in shadow, you know, encrypted.
Now that Jesus has come, we can see it. We have been given the Key so we can decrypt the Old Testament and find the Gospel there in ways those who lived before Christ never could.
In Luke 24 we see that Jesus brought clarity about Himself to some disciples on the road to Emmaus. He decrypted things for them.
In John 5:39 Jesus told the religious leaders that the Scriptures testify of Him. He knew that if they used the proper encryption Key when they looked at the Scriptures they would see the Truth.
Look for the Gospel in the Old Testament.
It's great fun, and very encouraging to your faith.
Oh, by the way, the secret encryption Key is the Lord Jesus!
