The Gift

The gift of God is righteousness through Jesus Christ our Lord. Righteousness (salvation) is a gift.

Nevertheless, don’t be confused by those who say that everyone will eventually be saved.

In the same way, don’t be confused by those who say that everyone is already benefiting from the contents of the gift, but they just don't realize it yet.

Both of these ideas are error and false teaching.

If someone leaves a gift on your doorstep you have a choice to make.

You can decide that you don't trust the person who sent it and that it may be a bomb, or that it isn't for you or that it's just some sort of prank.

Or you can trust the person who sent the gift and open it.

If you decide not to open the gift, it just sits there doing you no good.

If you open the gift, you can enjoy the good things you've been given.

Jesus has given everyone a gift.

Some have not trusted Jesus. They may think they are too bad for Him to have given them anything good, or that they don't want to follow a bunch of rules, or maybe that the whole thing is a big prank.

These do not receive the wonderful contents inside.

Some have trusted Jesus and accepted the gift. They are enjoying the forgiveness, freedom from the power of sin, and abundant life it contains.

Believe it and live.
