Romans Five Nine

Romans 5:9 (AV)

9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

The blood of Jesus justified us. The wages of sin is death. Our death could never have paid the price because our violation was infinite and our life was finite. The blood of Jesus is perfect and fully satisfies the price for all sin—that’s propitiation. Because His life is infinite it pays the infinite price and because His life is infinite He was able to conquer death as well. The power of His Spirit raised Him from the dead. The good news is that the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you.

John 3:36 (AV) tells us. “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” Because you believe on Jesus, you are justified by His blood and saved from wrath. That justification makes us not guilty and blameless. It cleanses us from all sin, not just some, all. We know this because 1 John 1:7 (AV) says, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

This may beg the question, “do I walk in light as He is in the light?” The answer is a resounding yes. Not only do you walk in light, you are light. Ephesians 5:8 (AV) makes that clear as crystal. “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light.”

So we learn that the wrath of God is not for His children. There is no wrath for you, saint. Romans 1:18 (AV) tells us “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness.” We have a different job. According to 1 Thessalonians 1:10 (AV) our job is “…to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.”
