God is Love and His voice always sounds like Him.
The doctrine of the Trinity is the best way we have found to represent this three-yet-one, one-yet-three God, but like all such doctrine it is imperfect due to our limitations.
Jesus claimed to do nothing but what the Father told Him, and this passage tells us there is something He did not know. How is it then that we can say that the three Persons of the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are co-equal
People may sometimes shout at their dogs or otherwise treat their dogs poorly. Dogs keep no record of the wrongs they have suffered. People may occasionally forget to feed their dogs or neglect them in other ways. Dogs endure it all and continue believing the best about their people.
Having been sent by God to speak to Pharaoh, Moses was frustrated. He said, “Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me? Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people…” (Exodus 5:22b-23a, NASB 2020).
Then, and I just love this, he said…
Don’t project your New Covenant self onto what the Bible reports about the way God dealt with people under the Old Covenant. The way He interacted with them is not the way He interacts with you.
In a recent article, I wrote that God cursed the ground, but if we read this passage carefully, we see that the ground was cursed because of what Adam had done. So, there is deeper truth here that was not addressed in what I wrote earlier.
God’s plan for Joseph included him being sold into slavery and spending a few years in prison before God’s ultimate plan to save Israel from the famine came to light.
The only question is whether we will choose to remain obstinately unwilling to be reconciled to God or choose to be reconciled and receive the forgiveness and Life He provides for everyone.
Things Scripture Teaches about: HOPE Romans 15:4 tells us that “whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” (NASB 2020) The Bible is a book designed to give us hope. But for many, it seems to do the…
Accepted in the Beloved In Ephesians 1:6 the King James Bible says that God has “made us accepted in the beloved.” That is a wonderful thing to consider. Righteousness is a gift from God to us. When scripture says we are accepted in the Beloved, it reflects the fact that because we have been made…
How We Live to God Romans 6:11 “So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.” (NASB 2020) Galatians 2:19 “For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live for God. (NASB 2020)” Before we were saved, we lived to sin. Sinfulness,…
The Introduction The book of Hebrews is introduced with some truly wonderful words. Hebrews 1:1-4 “God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also…
You Have Rights It is common for people to say that we are all children of God. We are all created by God. He is our ultimate source. In that sense we are all children of God. But those who have not been spiritually reborn are not the children of God in the same way…
When it Comes from God Jesus Christ is the Word of God.Scripture, because He inspired it, is the word of God.Whatever God communicates to us is the word of God. Even so, not everything people say God told them is His word, and it can seem daunting to know if our thoughts and desires are…
Experiencing God’s Love Trust in God grows as we come to know Him more intimately and relationally by living with Him through the hills and valleys of life. As we find He has walked with us through the valley of the shadow of death, we come to trust that He is always with us. Trust…
What Wondrous Love Isaiah 42:6–7 (NIV)“I, the LORD, have called you in righteousness;I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from…
Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.” (NASB 2020) I have had some bad beliefs over the course of my life. From an…
This is What God is Like God is love. Read this:1 Corinthians 13:4–8 (NKJV)4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity,…
Peace with God Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (CSB) 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (CSB) When we become a new creation, according to 2 Peter 1:4, we get to…
Fearing God I always knew I needed to treat my dad with respect. He was powerful and I was but a boy. I had a healthy respect for my dad, but I also knew I could walk right up to him, grab his big hand, climb into his lap, and just be my authentic self…
True Love Scripture tells us not merely that God loves, but that He is love. Let’s think through what that statement means. Anselm of Canterbury (1033—1109), a Benedictine monk, theologian, and philosopher wrote that “God is that than which there can be nothing greater.” We might define perfection as that state than which there can…
