Meet Susie
Saints, we were designed to live by faith in dependence on God. He is the source of the Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control for which our spirits yearn.

This verse recently gave me pause. The verse was John 16:27, which says, “the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father. (NASB 2020) I was surprised, stunned really, and a little frightened, at the word “because.”
It is not about the vessel. It’s about His never-ending all-sufficient supply. It’s about the power of God that you carry around in your unremarkable body. What treasure you bear. What blessing you bring.
You are not what you were. The change is profound, and it is real. Your life is no longer impermanent.
What Paul is doing here is helping us see the sort of conduct that best fits us as children of God. He’s telling us what kind of behavior will result in the best outcomes for us.
You are so free that Paul had to address with the Corinthian church the idea that everything is permissible.
To Let or Not to Let I recently posted a short piece on the idea that we should “let” the Lord do His thing in us. To read that, click on this link: Let it Happen — E3 with Larry Eiss One reader pointed out that the word “let” can often seem like something requiring…
Let it Happen “Let” is a verb that means: “not prevent or forbid”; “allow.” Anything that can be allowed or prevented must be available. For example: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…” (John 14:27) and “Let the peace of God rule in your hearts…” (Colossians 3:15) Jesus has given us…
The Mystery Colossians 2:2–3 “that their hearts may be encouraged, having been knit together in love, and that they would attain to all the wealth that comes from the full assurance of understanding, resulting in a true knowledge of God’s mystery, that is, Christ Himself, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and…
No Navel Gazing Our new heart, our new spirit, and having the Spirit of God living in us, has practical value for our daily lives. Because of Jesus, we are freed from the need to continually examine ourselves. We no longer have to check every choice, every behavior, to see if it’s sinful or not.We…
Perfect You In Jesus, all the fullness of the God-head dwells bodily. (Colossians 2:9)He is the image of the invisible God. (Colossians 1:15) This is another way of saying that He is God. One thing we can be sure of is that God is perfect in every way. (Matthew 5:48)If He were not perfect, He…
Righteous Despite Appearances Let’s begin in Genesis 15. Genesis 15:6 (NIV)“Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” Abram (Abraham) was made righteous. God had promised him a son who would inherit his land. Now lets jump forward in his life.Genesis 16:1–3 (NIV)“Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children….
You’ll See The day will come when you look back and notice that you have changed. You’ll see that the tug to do certain ungodly things you’ve been doing has grown much weaker than it was. You’ll discover that you have become more loving than you used to be.You’ll notice that all the turmoil and nonsense…
Remember Who You ARE If you are disappointed with your attitudes and actions, remember who you are. Your identity is not determined by your actions. You are the child of your biological parents, a member of their family no matter how you behave. Even if you disavow your parents, you remain their child. You cannot…
Power to ObeyWhat to Obey As we learn about the freedom we have in Christ we often feel incredible lightness. Our spirits soar in the grace and goodness of our wonderful Father God. We read scripture with new eyes and see in it beauty that had gone unnoticed or misinterpreted before. Then one day, when…
Closeness Saint, How close are we with God? He is in us, and we are in Him. Where we go, He goes. (John 17:23 & 26)He cannot deny Himself, so He will never deny us. (2 Timothy 2:13)He calls us friends. (John 15:15) We are seated with Him in the heavenly realm. (Ephesians 2:6)We are…
Do This or Your House will Fall Jesus closes His great teaching session we call “the Sermon on the Mount,” with this: Matthew 7:24–27 (ESV)24“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25And the rain fell, and the floods…
You can’t even be charged with any wrong because God has justified you. That means you were found not guilty in God’s court. Think about it. How can you be guilty of anything if Jesus has given you His righteousness? (see 2 Corinthians 5:21)
You Participate in the Divine Nature The Apostle Peter said it first: 2Peter 1:2-4 “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us…
This is useful for our everyday lives, perhaps especially as election time approaches, as well as our lives in the Church.
Just Relax Jesus said that He would give rest for the souls of those who were weary and weighed down. He said that He is gentle and lowly of heart and that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. When we find ourselves overwhelmed, loaded down, and worn out from trying to walk…
You have been raised with Christ.
You have been transferred out of the kingdom of darkness.
You have been transferred into the Kingdom of God.
And there you have it. The impossible way that you can be like God.
Don’t let the enemy make you think that something is wrong with you. You are not being singled out by God. You are not being punished. You are not being cursed.
It feels like humility to tell ourselves that we cannot know what God is doing, what His plans are, what awaits us when we pass from temporal life.
